Newtown Square, Pa. - The Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society have announced a partnership that will provide financial education and counsel to clients of the National MS Society free of charge. The program is offered via the Financial Education Partners (FEP) program, a national pro bono initiative supported by the Foundation of FSP.

Through the National MS Society's 50-state network of chapters, people with MS and their families will be referred to the FEP program for pro bono financial counseling and educational programs designed to help people with MS face their financial challenges. Volunteer members of the Society of FSP will be matched with requests for one-on-one financial counseling and for speakers at educational conferences.

According to Anthony Domino, president of the Foundation of FSP, the relationship is made possible by the sincere commitment of FSP members and National MS Society staff and volunteers. "We were overwhelmed by the response of FSP members when we introduced this program. Many have shared their personal experiences with MS, while others responded with their wish to be involved and their gratitude that the Society of FSP is giving them such a worthwhile outlet for their talents and expertise."

The strong leadership, parallel structures, and closely corresponding locations of the organizations' Chapters greatly facilitate the partnership, noted Society of FSP President Ward B. Anderson. "FEP is designed to be locally driven; the people at the Chapter level in both organizations work together to design appropriate programming," he said. "This helps to maximize the effectiveness and relevance of the resources we offer to National MS Society constituents."

"Partnering with FEP gives people with MS a 'one-stop' resource for financial planning and education," said Dr. Beverly Noyes, Director of Program and Staff Development, National MS Society. "Our existing relationship with FEP has provided support to many of our chapters on an individual basis and the results have been excellent. This newpartnership allows us to provide people with MS and their families around the country with access to the talent and commitment of FEP volunteers."

Financial Education Partners provides educational programs designed to enhance the financial literacy and financial planning abilities of people in need in conjunction with partner organizations including the National MS Society, Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society.
