The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative Grant Program consists of:
"One of the primary goals of Salesforce Foundation is to amplify the success of the nonprofit sector by providing effective tools to visionary organizations. The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative Grant Program is an immense step towards that goal," said Suzanne DiBianca, executive director of the Salesforce Foundation. "The grants will provide exceptional nonprofit organizations with desperately needed-financial resources, to implement and adopt more-effective technologies which will empower them to increase the positive impact they have on people's lives."
Nonprofit recipients will be chosen based on their ability and motivation to share best practices within the nonprofit community; the impact the grant will have on the organization's efficacy; the financial necessity of the donation; and the strength of the organization's plan for supporting successful implementation. The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative review committee consists of a group of salesforce.com employees representing each salesforce.com department. Final awards are decided by the Salesforce Foundation staff with counsel from its Board of Directors when appropriate. About Salesforce Foundation
Salesforce Foundation's fundamental mission is to enable community success and build the capacity of nonprofit organizations. As the leader in integrating philanthropy and business, the Foundation has pioneered the 1/1/1 model for corporate philanthropic change. This model delivers 1 percent of salesforce.com's product to the nonprofit community, 1 percent of founding equity to community programs and 1 percent of employee working hours to volunteerism. The Foundation has built a new model to support how corporations can more deeply serve the communities in which they operate. The Foundation also strives to better the lives of youth by supporting technology and educational programs in underserved communities both in the U.S. and abroad.
Since July 2000, the Foundation has opened more than 60 Community Technology Centers across the globe serving nearly 100,000 youth and other community members; has provided nearly 20,000 hours of service to the community through salesforce.com's employee volunteers; and supports salesforce.com in its efforts to offer its award-winning on-demand customer relationship management application to more than 700 qualified nonprofits globally, saving the sector millions of dollars every year. It is the recipient of the national 2003 Points of Awards award for Excellence in Corporate Community Service and the national 2003 U.S. Chamber of Commerce first annual Corporate Stewardship Award.
