AUSTIN, TX - Hart InterCivic will host "Business Ethics in the 21st Century: A Real World Approach" on March 25th from 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Edward's University.

As a winner of the 2002 Samaritan Center Ethics in Business Award, Hart InterCivic is inviting the public to discuss how "good ethics equals good business" in all aspects of the corporate world.

The free seminar will take place in Mabee Ballroom A&B, Third Floor of the Ragsdale Center at St. Edward's University, 3001 South Congress Avenue in Austin.

Speakers at this interactive seminar include Hart InterCivic President & CEO Britt Kauffman, Hart InterCivic Chairman David Hart and Travis County Clerk and Hart InterCivic customer Dana DeBeauvoir. The event will also feature round table discussions facilitated by Hart InterCivic experts in the areas of finance, marketing, human resources, sales, customer service and product management.

"It is important for businesses to create a culture where ethical behavior is recognized, encouraged and rewarded," states David Hart. During their presentations, Hart and Kauffman will discuss why they believe a company should make ethics a key component of any business operation and how it has enabled Hart InterCivic to be a successful and dominant force in its industry.

"Ethical behavior may cost you business occasionally, but long term it pays off on the bottom line," said Kauffman. He adds, "We are very excited to host this event and begin a dialogue on this important topic."

Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir has given several presentations on ethics in government during her career and is looking forward to this event.

"Ethics is critically important to an elected official's relationship with the public and in business relationships with vendors," said DeBeauvoir. "I have always been impressed with Hart InterCivic's integrity in our relationship, and this was critically important to Travis County during last year's purchase of our new eSlate(tm) Electronic Voting System," said DeBeauvoir.

This workshop is part of the year-round efforts of the Samaritan Center's Ethics in Business Awards program, co-sponsored by St. Edward's University. The program promotes the practices of Central Texas businesses that promote a culture of integrity, honesty and respect. Hart InterCivic and a select group of other Central Texas businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals were honored with the Program's 2002 award for their ethical standards and behavior.

Free valet parking will be provided courtesy of St. Edward's University. This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited so please RSVP by contacting Dawn Lewis of the Samaritan Center at 512/451-7337, ext. 102 or dawn@samaritan-center.org.
