Business Impact of “CSR Surgery”

LONDON - Senior Executives from UK, Europe and around the world are invited to a small, colloquial meeting on September 24 & 25 2003 in London, UK to discuss tactics and strategies centring on eight CRITICAL themes in CSR, and sustainability.

CSR could be a source of competitive advantage for the UK and Europe. We lead the United States and the Far East already in having businesses that combine attention to non-financial results with tough commercial focus. To fully capitalise, we need a mind-shift in sustainability, from theory and policy to concrete changes to core business processes. Only if we begin to produce results for businesses that they value, can we expect CSR to continue to attract resources and attention for the business community.”
Paul Gibbons, Managing Director, Future Considerations and session facilitator

These conference themes are:

- Sustainable Development and the Changing Dynamics of the World (Royal & Sun Alliance, with Dr Oliver Sparrow)
- Developing high performance teams – innovate before your workforce evaporates (The Work Foundation)
- Managing labour and human rights initiatives (Amnesty International)
- Working with Suppliers – a structured approach (Chiquita International)
- Measuring the Environmental Impact of IT and e-business (Barclays with Digital Europe)
- Stay on top of CSR measurement, reporting and accountability (SAM Group)
- CSR Reputation and brand image management – a structured approach (BBC)
- Broadband communication and stakeholder dialogue (BT Group)

Plus:
- What does Corporate Responsibility mean in a tripartite world consisting of national governments, corporations and citizens? (The European Centre for Public Affairs)
- Corporate Ethical Leadership – Going beyond the Law (Transparency International)
- (Opening Presentation) Fact and Fiction: A World without Corporate Ethics (Author, Max Barry)

In addition to excellent and thought provoking speakers, this conference will have two distinctive features not commonly found at others.

This conference will be different than large-group ‘talking heads’ where discussions go ‘a mile wide and an inch deep’. The participating companies will actively participate in 4 “CSR Surgery Sessions” with their expert peers from other leading companies and facilitated by a leading change/ sustainability consultancy, Future Considerations. They will share experience, coach and challenge each other to come away with concrete strategies and actions for embedding sustainability in their organisations more deeply.

Continuing the move beyond the traditional show and tell format, the leading-edge event will provide participants with personal tools for developing corporate route maps and personal action plans for delivering CSR in their organisations.

Consistently, the leading players in sustainability report that sharing best practise with peers, with facilitation is one of the most powerful ways to find new ways to move forward successfully in their work. In our facilitation work for leading UK organisations, we have received considerable feedback on the power of our facilitated group conversation to move the agenda forward. We are excited to be able to offer this to leaders in sustainability, to support them in learning from their peers in order to embed sustainability.
-Mark Young, Director, Future Considerations and session facilitator

CSR Surgery sessions are small, mediate groups where participants will share information, ideas and experiences on the 8 critical discussion areas to achieve actionable outcomes.
