ATLANTA - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world's largest and most global hotel company, ranked 14th among the Top 50 Companies for Diversity as announced April 19 by DiversityInc, a magazine and online publisher providing information on the business benefits of diversity. And, IHG ranked fourth on DiversityInc's related Top 10 Companies for African Americans.

"This recognition by DiversityInc is a tremendous honor for us. InterContinental Hotels Group continues to sharpen its focus on diversity and inclusion both in terms of internal staffing and operations, and key external relationships," said Steve Porter, president, the Americas, InterContinental Hotels Group. "We recognize the value this has in strengthening our company, and we continue to create partnerships within our business, built on respect and support, that enable us to achieve and enhance our business objectives."

"We're committed to advancing diversity in all aspects of our business," said Jerome Miller, vice president and chief diversity officer. We're capitalizing more fully on diversity in recruiting, procurement, sales and marketing, franchise development and more. We've made a strong start in each of these areas, and we're focused on continuing that momentum."

IHG placed 14th among the more than 175 North American companies that vied for a spot on the 2004 list. Rankings are based on an extensive survey evaluating companies' success in establishing diversity in their work force, customer base and suppliers. Companies comment on their achievement in four key areas: CEO commitment, human capital, corporate communications (internal and external) and supplier diversity.

"InterContinental Hotels Group's extremely diverse work force and commitment to recruitment and retention efforts and measurements make it a diversity leader," said Luke Visconti, partner/co-founder, DiversityInc.

The full list of Top 50 Companies for Diversity are posted on www.DiversityInc.com and will be published in the June/July issue of DiversityInc magazine.
