Exploring clean coal and gasification technologies to reduce emissions and prepare for the resurgence of coal-fired generation.

marcus evans presents Clean Coal Generation 2004 Conference:
September 8-9, 2004, Denver City Marriott, Denver, CO

As the North American energy markets see a renewed interest in coal-fired generation, and the impact of the Clear Skies Act and the New Source Review are being assessed, it is imperative that power producers examine the new generation of processes for the production of electricity and fuels - Clean Coal Technology (CCT).

CCTs are designed to increase the energy efficiency and to lessen the environmental effects of coal use - reducing air emissions, waste products and other pollutants compared to older coal-based systems.

High priority is being placed on new technologies that encourage the reduction of emissions while keeping energy at reasonable costs. Speaking on the first day, Richard Johnson, Principal Engineer of WE Energies who has recently been granted $24.8 million from the U.S. Department of Energy for the nation's first full-scale test of the patented TOXECON™ process. Johnson's presentation will cover 'Reviewing Technology Advancement Under DOE's Clean Coal Technology Advancement Programs - Demonstrations of the Winners of Round One.'

Day two event highlights include Edmundo Vasquez, General Manager, Research & Development SmartBurn representing Alliant Energy who introduced Smartburn™ in 2002; a technology that utilizes the practical application of combustion science technologies to improve coal-fired boiler performance and lower NOx emissions. Vasquez will provide a case study on 'Implementing CCTs to Ensure Smooth Transitioning into Fossil Plants.'

Denver, CO is set to host these senior level executives from the utilities and power producing industries, as they convene at The Clean Coal Generation 2004 Conference and examine the latest coal generation processes, determine the current state of the Clear Skies Act and discuss the cost to invest in new clean coal technologies.
