Natural Capitalism and Strategic Corporate Responsibility
Implementing Strategies to Enhance Core Business Value and Competitive Advantage

Dates: Feb 19 - 20, 2004

Course Description
This seminar blends strategic corporate social responsibility (CSR), with the principles of Natural Capitalism, a whole systems approach to conducting business that enables companies to behave responsibly towards both nature and people while increasing profits, inspiring their workforce, and gaining competitive advantage.

Executive learners will become equipped with the conceptual understanding and practical tools necessary to increase a business's bottom line and gain competitive advantage while also enabling the company to become a more socially and environmentally responsible entity.

This program will be lead by the Natural Capitalism Group's Walter Link and Hunter Lovins, internationally recognized business and NGO leaders, authors and lecturers who are credited with helping to define the CSR and sustainability movement, and Dr. Kellie McElhaney, the John C. Whitehead Faculty Fellow of Corporate Responsibility and Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business at Haas.

All participants will be provided with a set of preliminary readings for the CFE course by December 7, 2003. Upon arrival in Berkeley, participants will receive binders containing copies of the instructors' lecture notes, classroom slideshows and a course reader containing articles relevant to each lecture. Much of this information will also be provided in a redundant fashion on CD. Problem sets and solutions to the problem sets will be handed out on a weekly basis.

Cost: $2,200
