PITTSBURGH – Koppers Inc. has issued its second Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Progress Report, covering advances in SH&E programs and processes at its carbon materials and chemicals, coke, and wood treating facilities around the world.

The report highlights the company’s achievements in environmental performance, among them ISO 14001 certification for eight facilities; 24 awards from the U.S. National Safety Council; and the designation of Koppers as one of the safest companies in America by Occupational Hazards magazine.

“Maintaining a culture of stewardship is a key factor in protecting the environment and in keeping our employees safe,” said Walter W. Turner, President and CEO of Koppers. “At Koppers, we recognize that we must continue to be innovative, to hold ourselves accountable and to perform at our best. This report describes our efforts to do just that.”

Entitled, “Living our Values – Innovation, Accountability and Performance,” the report describes how Koppers employees find new ways to drive safety and environmental excellence throughout the company. “This report helps Koppers share its story with many of our stakeholders: our employees, government agencies, our customers and our neighbors in the communities where we operate,” said Randall D. Collins, Vice President, Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs. “Our SH&E values are in practice daily at Koppers locations around the world.”
