MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2005--ESP (Environmental Software Providers) announced today the opening of its Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 1992, and with a worldwide customer base now covering more than 10,000 facilities in 39 countries, the California-based ESP has recently experienced rapid acceptance of its enterprise environmental software solutions in the global marketplace, resulting in substantial growth in revenue and market share. Building on the company's initial expansion into Europe in 2003, the new EMEA headquarters will focus both on serving the region's existing customer base of ESP software through support and training, and also on expanding the company's sales operations throughout the region. Led by Frank Geisler, ESP's newly appointed Vice President, EMEA Sales, the EMEA group currently includes staff in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, with plans to expand throughout the region over the coming two years.

ESP's strong success in the initial phase of expansion into the EMEA marketplace has been spurred in part by the adoption of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and the rapidly emerging need for companies participating in the EU ETS to implement enterprise software systems which unite emissions management with emissions portfolio capabilities. ESP launched the world's first enterprise level greenhouse gas management software solution in 2002, and its adoption throughout Europe as companies come to terms with the new requirements of the EU ETS has been swift.

"The opening of our EMEA office represents an exciting new chapter in ESP's history," said Alex Long, ESP co-founder and CEO. "The Zurich location will allow us to effectively serve the entire EMEA region. We are also fortunate to have brought on an extremely talented team of specialists throughout the region, and we're thrilled by the excitement that our expanded presence in EMEA has generated among Global 1000 companies located in this region."

Frank Geisler, ESP's newly appointed Vice President, EMEA Sales, and a long-time veteran of the enterprise software arena, welcomes the opportunity to continue the expansion of ESP's products into a market he describes as "ready and waiting for our solution. Our success in EMEA will be predicated on the same formula that brought ESP such strong success in North America," he said. "ESP understands emissions management and emissions trading like no other software company in the world, and we have a track record of strong customer focus in order to ensure that our products keep providing exactly the kinds of solutions Global 1000 companies need for their environmental information management."
