BROOMFIELD,CO,. - June 17, 2008 - Boulder is often referred to as the "Birthplace of the Green Movement" because of locally-based companies such as Celestial Seasonings, Pharmaca, and Eco-Cycle, who back in the 1970’s, made a choice to advocate and run a business that would promote a healthier more sustainable lifestyle. Not only did they make these eco-conscious decisions for themselves, but they were leading by example, encouraging others to consider the environment, society and the overall health and well being of our planet. They didn't know it at the time, but they were changing the world. Most of those companies and individuals are still around and setting examples today. They are helping to educate and inform new businesses and forward thinkers so they can become part of the ever-growing $209 billion marketplace called LOHAS (acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability). The green movement has come full circle, returning to its original roots, as many of these early pioneers will be joined by other like-minded businesses at the LOHAS 12 Forum in Boulder.

The LOHAS 12 Forum creates an atmosphere where the "Grandfathers of Green" can interact and educate newer businesses, as well as industry leaders. The focus on eco-friendly and sustainable business practices is becoming more the norm, which makes the need for communication and networking between newcomers and established Green businesses more vital than ever. Statistics show that LOHAS consumers take up about 20% of the marketplace and that number is rapidly increasing. The Natural Marketing Institute, whose leaders will be speaking at this year’s LOHAS 12 Forum, estimate that the $209 billion market will grow to be more than $400 billion by the year 2010. Products labeled organic generated about $4.4 billion in sales last year and some industry forecasters say that sales could surpass $6.8 billion by 2012. This is proof that today's consumers are looking beyond cost and educating themselves on what is best, not only for their bodies, but for the environment and society too.Businesses across the globe are taking note of these changes and are learning all they can about this rapidly growing and powerful cross-section of purchasers.

The completely sold out Forum is taking place in Boulder, Colorado at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa from Wednesday, June 18 "“ Saturday, June 21.For more than a decade, the LOHAS Forum has served as the global gathering of the premier businesses, thought leaders, market researchers, media executives and opinion makers seeking to participate in the $209 billion LOHAS market.

Hessnatur, founded in 1976, is a German based 100% organic clothing company making its U.S. debut, they are as committed to great clothing as they are to their employees well being.
