KUWAIT CITY - The first International Corporate Social Responsibility Conference (CSR) will kick off in Kuwait on December 4-5 with strong participation from key international and regional organizations, led by United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and other multinationals with strong CSR programs including Microsoft and British American Tobacco.
Mohamed Al Ayed, head of the conference organizing committee said that the two-day conference which is being organized by Al Multaqa Media Group (MMG) in cooperation with the TRACCS/SACCS Public Relations Network, will address key issues regarding the role of CSR in the business and corporate world.

He added, "The purpose of this conference is to demonstrate practical experiences and showcase successful CSR models from multinational companies to the area while maintaining the cultural and social identity of the various Gulf markets. The desired end result is tailor-made and effective CSR strategies for Gulf-based companies which are based on long-term community involvement and activism."

Furthermore, the Conference will assist local and regional corporations in setting up their respective CSR programs that address the requirements of the communities they operate in and how to effectively promote these initiatives according to international standards.

"CSR for the private sector is not just a complementary role for companies and organizations, but is now part and parcel of future strategies and plans, and has become a new direction that has led many companies to put in place systems and procedures for strong, coherent, long-term contributions to their communities, added Al Ayed."

Al Ayed said that the first day of the Conference includes two key sessions that address CSR initiatives for companies and how these initiatives affect profitability, corporate image, and brand equity.
