The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) - in partnership with the University of South Africa's Centre for Corporate Citizenship - will be hosting the second African Corporate Citizenship Convention on 21-22 September 2004, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The title of the Convention, "Driving Responsible Growth and Competitiveness in Africa" highlights the AICC's intention to ensure that the required economic development in Africa incorporate principles of responsibility and accountability and in so doing improves the economic competitiveness of companies, sectors and countries. It is anticipated that there will be between 150 - 200 business, civil society and government leaders from both Africa and abroad attending the event.

The Convention is an extraordinary opportunity to shape the African business agenda, in line with strong international moves to integrate corporate citizenship into mainstream business practice. In addition, the outcomes of the Convention will feed directly into the European Union Presidency Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility to be held in November 2004, ensuring that African perspectives are considered.
