MEMPHIS, TN - First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE: FHN) has continued its tradition of earning recognition as one of the nation's best employers with a spot on FORTUNE magazine's list, the 100 Best Companies to Work For. First Horizon also earned inclusion in the magazine's Hall of Fame for being one of only 22 companies to make the list every year since its inception in 1998.

The list is compiled based on two criteria: an evaluation of the policies and culture of each company and the opinions of the company's employees. Employee opinions are given more weight; two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a 57-question survey that goes to a minimum of 350 randomly selected employees from each company. The survey asks about things like attitudes toward management, job satisfaction and camaraderie within the organization. The remaining one-third of the score comes from an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, culture, pay and benefits programs. Companies are scored in four areas: credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities and benefits), fairness (compensation and diversity) and pride/camaraderie (philanthropy and celebrations). First Horizon ranked 68th on this year's list. The list and related stories appear in FORTUNE's Jan. 24 issue, on newsstands Jan. 17, and at www.fortune.com.

As the Hall of Fame honor indicates, First Horizon was a pioneer in making a business case for employee-focused initiatives. Since the early 1990s, business results have proven that First Horizon's commitment to employee value is a competitive advantage.

First Horizon also has earned recognition as an employer of choice from AARP, Business Week and Working Mother magazines. The focus on being a great employer has helped the corporation's First Tennessee Bank earn one of the highest customer retention rates of any bank in the country and its mortgage company, First Horizon Home Loans, to garner a top-10 ranking in customer satisfaction from J.D. Power and Assoc.
