ROSEMEAD, Calif. - Panda Restaurant Group, the nation's leader in Chinese quick-service restaurants, raised $318,000 at its sixth annual Panda Cares Open Golf Tournament on Sept. 8. Proceeds will benefit the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, Calif. This year's tournament, attended by approximately 300 players, brought the cumulative charitable donations raised through the six Panda Cares Open events to more than $1 million.

"Reaching the $1 million mark in our charitable donations through this event is an incredible achievement," said Andrew Cherng, founder and chairman of Panda Restaurant Group. "Thanks to the generosity of our partners, we are able to truly make a difference in our community -- particularly as it relates to the support of children."

The tournament sponsor was Overhill Farms. Other sponsors included Gold Kist Farms and Pepsi-Cola, as well as more than 120 other companies. The tournament was held at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Conference Resort in the City of Industry, Calif., and was followed by a reception and dinner at Panda Restaurant Group's Support Center in Rosemead. Prizes for participants included a three-day/two-night stay at the Grand Wailea Resort in Hawaii, autographed sports gear from the L.A. Kings and three dinners for 10 at Panda Inn restaurant.
