SAN FRANCISCO - The Affordable Green Development Corporation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive efficient home building knowledge and resources in the community, today announced its presentation of the NowHouse by CleverHomes, featuring CNET Digital Living (www.cnet.com). The NowHouse, a fully functional demonstration home currently being erected in the parking lot of SBC Park, represents one of the most environmentally friendly and technically advanced homes ever made and available for anyone to purchase. The home will be open to the public through December 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.

The NowHouse presents a unique opportunity to educate the general public, as well as builders, about the environmental benefits and advantages of building homes made from safe advanced green and sustainable materials. The stylish modern, high-tech home features an intelligent digital network, extensive security monitoring, as well as parts, appliances, and accessories that are available today for anyone with a digital lifestyle who is interested in constructing their own environmentally friendly home.

In order to further showcase the NowHouse as a truly modern, green, and digitally integrated home, CleverHomes called upon CNET and its expert editors to help create the ultimate digital home set up. CNET, the trusted source for unbiased personal tech reviews and information on the digital lifestyle, will use the NowHouse as a stage to present the most cutting edge technology and consumer electronic products available today, similar to the virtual digital homes on CNET Digital Living (living.cnet.com).

"The NowHouse was conceived to give consumers and builders alike a fully-functional example of the advances that have taken place in home construction," said Scott Redmond, project director. "This innovative structure was built using a proprietary panelized construction system featuring patent-pending technologies, construction tools, and processes which are ready to build as of today at a fraction of the cost and time of traditional home building. The NowHouse incorporates the best in environmentally-friendly home construction and design with the latest, most advanced technology."

"CNET saw the NowHouse project as a unique opportunity to bring the digital home to life and show people how today's technology can enhance and enrich their lives," said Candice Meyers, senior vice president, CNET. "There is a notion that a house that is outfitted with the latest tech products is not energy efficient, and the NowHouse is an excellent place to show consumers how they build the ultimate digital home - that is still environmentally friendly."

The NowHouse project brings together best-of-breed architects, engineers and agencies to assemble a structure that will feature state-of-the-art products, technologies and systems for the public to view. Lead sponsors of the NowHouse include: Clever Homes LLC, CNET, Della Robbia, Ecotimber, Kitchenaid, Mscape, Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing, Premier Building Systems and Whirlpool.

Associate sponsors include: Alternative Building Concepts, Axis Communications, Builders Booksource, Dwell Magazine, Dricon, Flex Your Power, FlowGuard Gold Pipe & Fittings / Noveon, Inc., Logitech, Friends of the Urban Forest, Integrity Gasket, InterTie, La Cantina Doors, MarComm PR, Metlund, Microtherm, Modern Outdoor, Next Energy, P.O.D.S., San Francisco Department of Environment, San Francisco Department of Public Works, San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, Synergy California, San Francisco Department of Environmental Justice, Tyler Wire Mesh, VR4MAX, Weatherset and Wiretracks.
