Andrews University invites you to join a graduate level intensive session focused on the principles of community development.

"Andrews in May" will offer classes that emphasize the best practices of project cycle management (PCM). PCM principles will be taught through a variety of topics, including classes on anthropology, management and ethics. There are six important components to PCM:

  • Programming: Research a situation on national and local levels, review initiatives and apply the lessons learned by international, national, and local programs and organizations
  • Identification: Screen potential project ideas and consult with beneficiaries and stakeholders about feasible concept proposals as a basis for decision-making
  • Formulation: Develop project proposals that are both feasible and sustainable, while keeping beneficiaries and stakeholders participating
  • Financing: Identify and approach potential donors, prepare grant proposals and other legal documents that detail how the project will be funded and implemented
  • Implementation: Recruit and train staff, tender and award contracts, build teams, and monitor progress toward pre-determined objectives, with input from beneficiaries and stakeholders
  • Evaluation: Assess achievements, measure outcomes and identify lessons learned
"Andrews in May" is open to professionals and students alike. In just three weeks you can earn up to 9 graduate level credits, while mingling with other professionals from around the world.

Whether or not you choose to join any of our extended degree programs in Development, you can still attend "Andrews in May." For more information please see our website: www.andrews.edu/GRAD/CIDP/AiM or email us at AUinMay@andrews.edu.
