NEW YORK, NY - The look of future U. S. action on global warming will become clearer June 8 and 9 in New York City, as environment commissioners from states responsible for more than 17 percent of US emissions of CO2 meet at the Global Warming Solutions 2005 conference.

Representing California, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, the officials will discuss how investment will drive action on reducing greenhouse gases, the development of a nation-leading cap-and-trade system, and the ways regulators can most effectively work with investors.

"This will be the chance for stakeholders to take up their issues and for regulators and investment leaders to debate what will really happen to the economy when we tackle global warming," said Adam Markham, executive director of Clean Air - Cool Planet. "Navigating the Climate Issue - What's on the Horizon for Businesses, Investors and Financial Institutions," organized by Clean Air - Cool Planet, will feature talks by Commissioner Alan Lloyd of California, Commissioner Gina McCarthy of Connecticut, Commissioner Bradley Campbell of New Jersey, Commissioner Kathleen McGinty of Pennsylvania and Acting Commissioner of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation Denise Sheehan.

Joining commissioners Lloyd, Campbell, and McCarthy to discuss "How Regional and Local Climate Action is Creating a New Investment Landscape" will be Phil Jessup, executive director of the Toronto Atmospheric Fund.

Commissioner McGinty will be joined by Mindy Lubber, executive director of CERES, and Robert L. Pratt, director of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, to outline "How Regulators and Investors Can Work Together to Develop Markets."

Keynote addresses at the conference, to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, will include John W. Rowe, president and CEO of Exelon Corporation and Professor Robert Corell, chair of the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment.
