BELLEVUE, Wash. - Congressman Jim McDermott, Congressman Adam Smith, and the Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon will join the South Asian Community members and artistes in the "Great Show of Unity" fund-raiser dinner on March 13th, 2005, at the Doubletree Hotel, Bellevue, WA at 6 p.m. In a message to the Planetguru Foundation, the organizer of the fund-raiser, former President Bill Clinton, who has been appointed as the UN envoy for the Tsunami Relief efforts in South Asia, appreciated the outpouring of support from people around the world to help the Tsunami victims rising above the heartbreak and looking toward a future full of promise. The net proceeds will go to the Tsunami Victims through World Vision in Sri Lanka and the Prime Minister's Relief Fund in India.

The death toll from the tsunami made 2004 the deadliest year for earthquakes in five centuries, the US Geological Survey said on February 10th, 2005. The agency estimated the death toll from the December 26 tsunami at 285,950. Millions more have been severely affected. The rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts may take years before bringing normalcy back into peoples' lives.

Janet Rayor of Rouge (www.rougemusic.com) will perform at the event and noted Indian novelist Indu Sundaresan (www.indusundaresan.com) will read from her latest novel, "Twentieth Wife," and sign her books at the event. Vasu Sundarraj, the noted Indian classical exponent will render her voice singing some devotional songs dear to Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Sumathy Pathy, who has been to Sri Lanka on Tsunami relief, will be sharing her experiences with pictures and slides on the recent tsunami. There will be folk songs and dances by the artistes from Nepal to be staged by the Nepal Seattle Society.

Admission to this event is by reservation only. The website of the foundation can be visited at www.pfsac.org for reservation. The telephone number to contact is 425-748-5158.
