Compliance and Ethics Institute Attendance Unaffected by Recent Economic Slump

Minneapolis, MN - August 12, 2008 - While the economy is down attendance is up for the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics' 7th Annual Compliance and Ethics Institute, being held September 14-17, 2008, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Chicago, Illinois.

"With five weeks yet to go before the Institute, we've already passed last year's number of registrations," said Roy Snell, Chief Executive Officer for the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).

Despite the troubled economy compliance and ethics professionals are committing to attend this critical conference. "In fact, maybe because of the troubled economy, they are finding our message, content, and the opportunity to network with each other more important than ever. The pressure on compliance and ethics professionals has never been greater as companies struggle to meet their goals in tough times without cutting corners," added Snell.

Space is still available!

While substantial numbers of ethics and compliance professionals are lining up to join with their colleagues to discuss a cornucopia of concerns, there is still time to register for the 7th Annual Compliance & Ethics Institute. It offers more than 90 speakers and 55 sessions, which will provide practical advice and important insights from highly-regarded compliance and ethics practitioners, government enforcement agents, and legal and academic leaders.

With higher standards for corporate behavior at the same time competing with pressure on the bottom line and on individuals to make the numbers, it is essential that ethics and compliance professionals stay on top of what it takes to manage this volatile mix. "The Compliance and Ethics Institute's agenda was developed to provide the knowledge needed to navigate these challenging times and help our members grow in their careers," said Snell. Featured speakers include Chicago Mayor Richard. M. Daley and Cynthia Cooper, former WorldCom Chief Audit Executive and author of Extraordinary Circumstances - The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower.
