BOSTON - Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:BPFH), announced that Esther Schlorholtz, Senior Vice President, Community Reinvestment, has been named Chair of the Massachusetts Community & Banking Council (MCBC) Board of Directors.

MCBC was established in 1990 to encourage community investment in low- and moderate-income and minority neighborhoods. MCBC brings together community and bank representatives to promote better understanding of the credit and financial needs of lower-income neighborhoods.

As Corporate CRA Officer and Senior Vice President of Boston Private, a full service commercial bank headquartered in Boston, with assets of $1.8 billion, Ms. Schlorholtz is responsible for designing and implementing residential, small business and commercial community development products and services for the bank. She also originates affordable housing and community economic development lending business, oversees the Bank's active involvement in the community reinvestment programs of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, and manages the Bank's CRA investment and charitable donations program.

She was also recently named to the Board of the Small Business Assistance Advisory Council of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Business and Technology.

Currently, Ms. Schlorholtz is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Community & Banking Council (MCBC). She is co-chair of the MCBC Economic Development Committee, former co-chair of the Affordable Housing Committee and a member of the Mortgage Lending Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Housing Development Committee of the Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership (MBHP). She is a member of the Board of Directors and various committees of the Citizens' Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA). She is a member of the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation's Loan Committee and the New Markets Tax Credit Committee. She serves on the Investment Committee of the Property and Casualty Initiative. She is co-chair of Uniting Citizens for Housing Affordability in Newton (U-CHAN). She is on the Board of Overseers of Rogerson Communities and is involved in numerous other community development initiatives.

Ms. Schlorholtz served as a member of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's Leading the Way II committee recommending on affordable housing financing and development strategies, and she recently served on Mayor Menino's Blue Ribbon Housing Finance Panel. She also recently served on the Board of the Hyde-Jackson Main Street Program, the Shirley-Eustis House Board of Overseers and the Board of Historic Neighborhoods.
