(Santa Monica, CA) - Instant Karma Films, the recently launched eco-friendly spot company has just secured its first project, which will be the first Carbonfree™ commercial ever produced. Instant Karma has worked with Carbonfund.org, the leading non-profit carbon offset provider, to offset the CO2 produced by this commercial.

The commercial for Maybelline New York and Gotham Inc. is to be shot in Shanghai where Instant Karma will recreate the streets of New York City and will feature actress Zhang Ziyi best known for her work in Memoirs of a Geisha and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Director Cameraman Larry Shiu will helm the spot for Instant Karma, who has a long- standing relationship with executive producer Craig Farkas from their previous partnership in Metro Pictures.

In addition to offsetting its carbon output and environmental impact through its donation and association with Carbonfund.org, Instant Karma Films has planted 1,000 trees for this production in its commitment towards environmental restoration. The trees are planted through American Forests, the nation's oldest nonprofit citizens' conservation organization and a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration.

"We are proud to work with an industry leader like Instant Karma Films to introduce carbon offsets to the commercial production industry," said Eric Carlson, executive director of Carbonfund.org. "This partnership proves how simple and cost-effective it is to reduce our climate impact, no matter what industry a company is in."

"We think it is about making the right choices were you can and when you can't you offset our carbon output by donating to organizations such as Carbonfund.org and American Forests who are working to reduce climate change through their environmental programs" said Tanya Farkas, Instant Karma Films' president. She continued "So, if we can encourage others in the industry to start with the first step and offset their carbon output that is a great start."

Instant Karma, in association with Carbonfund.org, has developed a carbon calculator specifically for the production industry. Using this calculator, Instant Karma has determined the average amount of CO2 produced by a production and will offset its future work with Carbonfund.org as well. Carbonfund.org can help any production go Carbonfree.
