ATLANTA - Canvas Systems, a leading global provider of pre-owned Information Technology (IT) equipment and systems, announces the donation of computer systems to Atlanta Union Mission to help in their care of the homeless. The computers will be used in the addiction recovery program to teach resume writing and computer skills, in an effort to ready people to re-enter the workforce. Canvas Systems provided the computers as an extension of their Asset Disposition services, which recycle, reuse or reclaim IT equipment to help keep it out of landfills.

"The Atlanta Union Mission depends on technology support from great companies within the community, like Canvas Systems, as we strive to expand our outreach work in Atlanta," said Glen Jackson, Chairman of the Board, Atlanta Union Mission. "This wonderful gift will advance the services we provide to our clients: men, women and children who are given new hope through the gifts and prayers of companies such as Canvas."

"Canvas Systems is dedicated to community action through donations that bridge the technology divide and improve human lives," said James Davie, Vice President and co-founder of Canvas Systems. "Our commitment to the Atlanta community encompasses environmental concerns such as disposing of old IT equipment in responsible ways - either through reclamation or recycling of equipment for charitable contributions."

Growing public awareness of the hazards of e-waste and increasing governmental regulations puts pressure on corporations to properly liquidate surplus equipment. Canvas Systems eliminates the hassle of disposal with a wide range of asset recovery and disposal services that enable end-users to focus on more important business functions, while at the same time giving back to the community.

The Atlanta Union Mission, established in 1938, offers refuge for homeless and people in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery. The Mission serves as many as 1,070 men, women and children every day of the year with emergency shelter, residential recovery and transitional housing. It operates multiple facilities throughout Atlanta, which provide emergency food and shelter, along with individual and group counseling, life skills training, and work therapy and training.
