NEW YORK - In a move aimed at extending help, hope and healing to ever more children across America who find themselves beset by traumas and crises of growing up today, the 123-year-old national children's crisis charity KidsPeace has named Robert Charles Dunne, a veteran financial professional in both the non-profit and for-profit worlds, as its new chief financial officer.

Mr. Dunne previously served as Controller and in other key financial positions at The Devereux Foundation, a national provider of health, educational and related services, and as Senior Manager at the prestigious firm of Ernst & Young.

"Bob Dunne has a wealth of experience in guiding and advising charities and Fortune 500 companies alike in reaching new heights," said KidsPeace President & CEO C.T. O'Donnell II. "The difference is that in the for-profit world, it's about aiding the need to increase the bottom line; in the nonprofit world, the bottom line is how much you can increase your aid to those in need. Bob will use his knowledge to help us reach more suffering children who otherwise might have nowhere to turn."

Founded in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1882, KidsPeace helps thousands of children a day at more than 50 centers nationwide through programs such as intensive foster care, residential campuses for kids overcoming crisis, and the KidsPeace Children's Hospital, a national resource based in Orefield, Pennsylvania. Millions more children and families are helped each year through award-winning national and international prevention campaigns.

"KidsPeace has established itself, through its scope, history, and ambitious mission, as a leader in its field," said Dunne. "I wanted to be part of an effort on a nationwide scale to help give the best to kids who have been through the worst."

Mr. Dunne has a strong track record in strategic planning, devising financial improvement efforts, capital improvement projects, and growth opportunities, overseeing MIS issues related to healthcare. His appointment became effective October 3, following the retirement of longtime CFO William Harrigan.

A graduate of LaSalle University, Mr. Dunne is known not just for being good with figures, but for being good with people.

"Bob is a real 'people person' with a strong passion for helping those who need help," President O'Donnell said. "He has five children of his own, a long history of volunteerism with children, and a strong, work ethic based on collegiality and teamwork. He is the kind of person who the children of America need as a friend right now and we are very glad to have him on our team."
