WINDSOR, ON - Hundreds of volunteers, partner families and Genworth Financial Canada are teaming together to build six houses in 10 days in Windsor, Ontario. The initiative is part of Habitat for Humanity's Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP), which will construct 230 homes in numerous communities in Canada and the United States over a 10-day period.

"Genworth's partnership with Habitat for Humanity is making a difference in the lives of Canadian families in need," said David Hughes, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "Since 2000, Genworth has worked with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for families in communities across the country, including Vancouver, Burnaby, London, Okotoks (Calgary), Toronto, Peterborough and Windsor."

Staff from Genworth are rolling up their sleeves to lend a helping hand in the construction of a home for the Al Smoudi/Mstoui family from the Windsor area, who hope to move into their new home in the next few weeks. "Without partners like Genworth, this project would not be possible," said Mr. Hughes.

"This is a great project that demonstrates what the people of Windsor can do for one another," said Sandra Pupatello, MPP for Windsor West. "It's great to see the private sector's continued partnership with Habitat for Humanity in Windsor, and communities across Canada."

"We are delighted to be a part of this project and to build on our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada," said Linda Belanger, Director of Business Development and a Genworth volunteer coordinator on the blitz build. In addition to volunteering on Habitat projects, Genworth has supported Habitat's work across Canada through employee-led fundraising efforts and corporate philanthropy.

Former U.S. President, Jimmy Carter, who became Habitat's most famous volunteer when he and his wife Rosalyn participated in their first Habitat build project in 1984, will visit the Windsor build named in his honour on Thursday, June 23, 2005. Their personal involvement in Habitat for Humanity International over the years has brought the organization worldwide
recognition and generated interest in Habitat's work across the globe.

"Genworth is very proud to be a part of this historic project in Windsor, and of our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity in communities across the country," said Peter Vukanovich, President of Genworth Financial Canada.

Genworth Financial is pleased to be partnering with MCAP and Mortgage Intelligence to sponsor one of the homes being built in Windsor during this blitz.
