CHESTNUT HILL - September 11, 2007 - The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship today announced that registration is open for its 2008 International Corporate Citizenship Conference to be held April 6-8 in Boston at the InterContinental. The Center, part of the Carroll School of Management, works with global companies trying to have a positive influence in society.

The conference theme, "Corporate Citizenship: Real, Relevant, Responsive" will focus on business strategy, best practices, and trends related to the role that companies play in society. "While the name of the conference makes corporate citizenship seem simple, it is becoming more challenging for companies competing in a complex world," said Bradley K. Googins, executive director of the Boston College Center.

The annual event attracts some 500 business professionals from around the world representing CSR management, sustainability, community involvement, corporate communications, supply chain, compliance officers, and corporate foundation heads. Early registration is encouraged since the 2007 conference sold out. Registration is open only to professionals currently working on corporate citizenship inside a company and can be found at: www.corporatecitizenshipconference.com.

Toyota is the lead sponsor for the conference, joined by other companies including Accenture, Baxter, FedEx, Fidelity, Kaiser Permanente, Merck, Mohawk Fine Papers, PetroCanada, and Sprint.

The two and a half day conference will feature 20 breakout sessions led by professionals representing leading companies. Topics to be explored include:

  • The impact of non-financial reporting
  • The new philanthropy
  • Measuring social impact
  • Communicating corporate citizenship
  • Investor relations and how to make the value connection
  • The changing social contract
  • Three-dimensional framework for assessing and managing corporate citizenship
