The Peace Company (www.thepeacecompany.com) of Lincoln, Vermont has recently engaged Meadowbrook Lane Capital (www.meadowbrooklane.com) to investigate strategic alternatives for the company.

From her work in the ashes of war-torn societies in places like Bosnia, Liberia, the Middle East, Cyprus, and elsewhere, founder Louise Diamond recognized the urgent need to help humanity step off the 'warpath' and onto the 'peace path'. The mission of The Peace Company is to foster shifts in attitude and behavior from a culture of violence to a culture of peace.

The Peace Company provides products and services that inform, inspire, and encourage people to be active agents in creating more peace in their lives and in the world. Its direct-mail store offers books, flags, music, videos, gifts, resources for teachers and parents, children's items, home-study guides, and other products that support people from all sectors of society in making peace a way of life.

The company began in 2001 with one product, a book by Louise Diamond entitled The Peace Book: 108 Simple Ways to Create a More Peaceful World. The Peace Book enjoys over 70,000 copies in circulation through a unique grassroots marketing process called The Great Peace Give-Away. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the book's popularity was renewed and spawned interest in additional products and services. Professional staff was hired and the development of a lively online store carrying nearly 50 products was created with the support of a new shareholder family.

The Peace Company's socially responsible outlook is not an add-on, not a special program, but its very mission - to make peace the way we live. All its products, services, and other activities are directed toward that goal. Its purpose is to make peace practical, popular, and profitable.

The services provided by the company include training programs in peacebuilding onsite and online. The company addresses issues of diversity, conflict resolution, peace leadership, power inequities, social change, and related subjects - in the workplace, in communities, and in settings of conflict and poverty, both domestically and internationally.

The Peace Company stands at an exciting and challenging crossroad. Its founder, Louise Diamond, was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As a 'practical visionary', who has started many other organizations in her lifetime, she is ready to investigate strategic alternatives for the company to insure the mission of the company continue into the future.

The company has a sound record of growth, a dedicated and highly skilled staff, an excellent reputation, a powerful mission and message, a proven business model, a lively shareholder family, and a growing network of customers and affiliates. Its trends and indicators are positive, and its potential for fulfilling its promise is tangible.

The Peace Company was founded on the belief that one person can make a difference. It is suffused with a passion for making peace, justice, and nonviolence the underlying principles and practices of our society and of our world. According to Mahatma Gandhi, "There is no way to peace. Peace is the way."
