More Than 1,700 Runners Celebrate July 4th At The Silicon Laboratories Relay; Inaugural Race Is One Of The Largest Relays In The Nation

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 4, 2005--Many Austinites began their Independence Day celebration early at the inaugural Silicon Laboratories Marathon Relay, which attracted more than 1,700 runners making it one of the largest relays in the nation. The teams of five began their run at Austin High School and traced around the famous and beautiful views of Lake Austin enjoying Austin's most beloved routes along Lake Austin Blvd. and Caesar Chavez St.

The Dell Team took Silicon Laboratories' corporate challenge to heart placing first in the corporate open men's division and bringing home the premier corporate team prize. The team completed the 26.2 mile relay in 2:42:49.6. The NAMC Cardiac Team placed first in the women's corporate open division with a time of 2:55:10.6. In the corporate open odds and ends division, Team America took top honors completing the trek in 2:55:17.9.

First place in the open mixed division went to the Twenty-six Two Team finishing in 3:48:04.4. The open women's division was won by The Last Minuters Team with a time of 3:47:46.4. Jack & Adams Team came in first place overall and for the open men's division with a finishing time of 2:21:38.1.

The race's title sponsor, Silicon Laboratories, donated $150,000 to Junior Achievement of Central Texas in conjunction with the event.
The donation goes directly into classrooms to enrich and sustain programs that educate today's youth about business and economics. This donation is part of Silicon Laboratories' philanthropy program which is dedicated to supporting education in the Austin community.

-- Austin Fire Department Team finished in 2:50:04.3

-- Austin Police Department 110 Cadets finished in 3:03:22.5

-- Mayor Will Wynn's Team "This Team Will Wynn" finished in
3:52:55.1

-- Silicon Laboratories' Silabs Unplugged Team finished in
3:30:23.1
