BOSTON, MA - Harvard Business School (HBS) is pleased to announce that the Executive Education program Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies to Create Business and Social Value will take place on the HBS campus in Boston, Massachusetts, from October 18 to 21, 2006.

HBS recognizes that there has been a significant increase in the expectations of stakeholders--consumers, employees, investors, communities, and governments--in regard to their companies' commitment to socially responsible business practices. As a result, corporate social responsibility is becoming a progressively more important component of good business practice.

To provide insights into achieving superior strategic corporate social responsibility and enhancing firm value, HBS developed Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies to Create Business and Social Value. The program is designed to provide senior corporate executives in charge of CSR efforts with the knowledge and practical tools and frameworks for integrating social responsibility as part of their corporate strategy. It will also explore how corporate social responsibility significantly improves business performance, how to incorporate it into the company strategy, and how to drive it throughout the organization. Participants will deepen their understanding of the political consequences of their business decisions in order to learn how to manage risks more effectively and to interact more constructively with external constituencies.

The teaching team includes:

V. Kasturi Rangan, faculty chair of the program

Marc Epstein, Wyss Visiting Scholar in Social Enterprise

William George, Henry B. Arthur Fellow of Ethics at HBS

Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Ernest L. Arbuckle Professor of Business Administration

Herman B. "Dutch" Leonard, Cochair of the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative

Forest L. Reinhardt, John D. Black Professor of Business Administration

Jane Nelson, Director of the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government
