LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 2005--Steve W. Martin announced the availability of his highly anticipated new book, "The Real Story of Informix Software and Phil White: Lessons in Business and Leadership for the Executive Team." "Informix Software was a dominant Silicon Valley story of the 90s. The book chronicles the meteoric rise of Informix Software, how it became a billion-dollar technology giant, and the scandal that ultimately led to its spectacular fall," he commented.

Martin explained the reasons behind the book's controversy:

"People have very strong opinions about the rise and fall of Informix Software. Over the past month I have received hundreds of e-mails regarding Phil White, the former CEO of Informix. Many write passionately that he single-handedly destroyed the company while others make the point that he was not the devious con artist the press led everyone to believe."

Scott Raskin, chief operating officer of Telelogic, said: "Phil White was one of the most powerful leaders in Silicon Valley. After reading this book, you have an entirely different opinion of what really happened to him and Informix Software."

Gerald D. Cohen, CEO, Information Builders Inc., remarked:

"The Informix story has all the characteristics of a good mystery. Why did the CEO falsify information, why did others go along, and how did they get into this situation?"

Document Sciences president Jack McGannon made this observation:
"What impressed me most about the book is how the story is explained. Complex topics like Informix Software's revenue restatements and Phil White's criminal proceedings are explained in an understandable and entertaining way."

SoftwareCEO founder Bruce Hadley commented: "Greed, lies, and the lust for power -- 'The Real Story of Informix' has got it all. However, the book's real value lies in the author's decision to take the high road. If you don't pick up a wealth of leadership lessons from this story, you're just not paying attention."

Martin also announced that he will be conducting a webcast on Oct. 18 titled "Good to Great to Gone--Lessons for CEOs and CFOs from the Rise and Fall of Informix Software." The webcast is being held in conjunction with Softrax Corp., the leading provider of enterprise revenue management solutions. For more information please visit www.storyofinformix.com.
