Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2005--PRIDE Industries, a private nonprofit, is an outsourcing partner to three Northern California companies, creating products for people with disabilities, by people with disabilities.

-- PRIDE Industries, Manufacturing & Logistics Services,
Electronics Division, Roseville CA

-- InterMotive, Vehicle Controls, Colfax CA

-- SuperQuad, Roseville CA

-- Interactive Neuro Technology, Inc., Carmichael CA

The Partners:

PRIDE Industries, Electronics Division: An ISO certified facility, offering turnkey capabilities from engineering and material management support to flexible manufacturing capabilities, testing, quality assurance, and distribution & shipping. For each client, PRIDE developed a customer-focused, integrated technology solution, while also creating jobs for people with disabilities.

InterMotive: A PRIDE customer since June 1997, this company is a designer and manufacturer of control systems for transit, Para transit and emergency response vehicles. PRIDE Electronics performs printed circuit board assembly (PCB) for the lift control device on InterMotive's wheelchair lifts for coaches. This type of assembly is labor-intensive. Approximately 10,000 units are assembled each year by PRIDE, employing up to 4 people with disabilities.

SuperQuad: The WIJIT is a wheelchair accessory developed by SuperQuad to improve pushing power, while providing safer and more effective braking and steering. PRIDE has set up a small manufacturing operation to build a prototype of the Wijit, designed to reduce the stresses and injuries associated with using a wheel chair. The current order is for 250 units. Once in production, PRIDE will serve as a West Coast distribution hub.

Interactive Neuro Technology, Inc.: Designed to help with rehabilitation for stroke victims, this device guides users through a sequence of buttons to produce specific movements that are tracked and recorded. The therapist can download the data, and modify the exercise to improve patient health. PRIDE is helping with the product design and manufacturing criteria. After a successful clinical trials phase, PRIDE will be involved in the production phase.

PRIDE's mission is to create jobs for people with disabilities.
The company currently employs 3,169 people, 1,870 of whom have a disability. Nationwide, the unemployment rate is over 75% for people with disabilities who are of working age. PRIDE Industries works to improve that statistic one job at a time.

Like every organization, PRIDE endeavors to create a productive and motivated labor force, and identifies employee skills sets, provides job training, and develops efficient processes. What distinguishes PRIDE in this effort is its expertise in creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Our rehabilitation specialists partner with process engineers on equipment and work flow systems devised to utilize the unique capabilities of our employees -- who come to work everyday excited to be employed, enthusiastic about the work they perform, and thrilled to be matched to a job designed just for them.

PRIDE Industries represents the best in social innovation: With its entrepreneurial approach for employing people with disabilities, the core business units at PRIDE Industries last year generated nearly $100 million annual revenues, while also improving access to rehabilitation services and employment training for people with disabilities. Through its Integrated Facilities Services (IFS) division, PRIDE provides facilities maintenance, custodial, office recycling and transportation services to government and commercial clients. The Manufacturing and Logistics Services (MLS) provides supply chain solutions, including turnkey inventory management, production, and distribution; as well as Electronics assembly and engineering support capabilities. Our Rehabilitation Services unit oversees Work Services and Behavior Management programs, including transition programs for high school and foster care youth.
