London, UK - In the UK and Europe there continues to be a noticeable amount of cynicism and scepticism about diversity initiatives. Diversity is a complex subject that is often over-simplified by most companies.

It is the intention of the Diversity Mindset learning event on the 8 & 9 November, London, UK to show companies how to approach diversity from a variety of different angles. It will give people a better understanding of the key issues and a few more tools that they can use in order to revitalize there current initiatives and make greater strides in achieving positive changes, said Jude Smith Rachele, Conference Director.

Leading filmmaker, writer and broadcaster Roger Graef, best known for his pioneering work in gaining access to hitherto closed cultures ranging from ministries and boardrooms to, courts and prisons, will present a keynote speech on "Thought Leadership and the Power of the Media". In 2003 he won a BAFTA for his documentary Feltham Sings which tells the story of youth offenders, and he continues to make documentaries that cut to the bone of challenging social concerns.

Graef will discuss such issues as:

1. The influence of the media on collective thinking and behaviour
2. The importance of CSR in the media and how this links to the sustainable development of the industry
3. Thought leadership
4. The strengths and weaknesses of current corporate reporting strategies
5. The use of cutting-edge business communication solutions (i.e. video benchmarking) in order to raise the bar on CSR reporting

Other leading-edge speakers contributing to the learning event include:

  • Philippa Back Foster, Director of Institute of Business Ethics
  • Ms. Lynne Fischer, MD Diversity and Talent Management, Citigroup
  • Simon Loftus, Chairman, Adnams

Participants will also engage in on-the-spot-learning with sustainable development simulation games, learning exercises around understanding and managing complexity and will have an opportunity to tackle tough ethical issues in small discussions groups.
