Since its inception in 1990, the GLOBE Series has helped to change corporate attitudes regarding environmental protection and sustainable development. Over this period the corporate mindset has evolved from reluctant acceptance of environmental stewardship obligations and the adoption of more sustainable business practices to one where businesses now embrace these practices and are profiting from doing so.
GLOBE 2006 will centre around four main conference themes including the new track of Finance and Sustainability where relationships between sustainable development and finance will be explored with a focus on the investment industry, corporate reporting, regulation and policy, and business practices. Other themes include Corporate Sustainability, Energy and Environment, and Building Better Cities.
Confirmed speakers include Jim Carter, President & COO, Syncrude Canada in Fort McMurray, AB, Canada; Robert Colangelo, Executive Director, National Brownfield Association in Chicago, IL, USA; Elyse Allan, President & CEO, General Electric Canada, Mississauga, ON. Canada; Brigitte Tantawy-Monsou, VP of Organization Effectiveness, Unilever SV in Rotterdam, Netherlands; and Chunfeng Wang, Deputy Director, Carbon Sequestration Management Office, Chinese State Forestry Administration in Hangzhuo, China.
Over 10,000 people attended the GLOBE 2004 Conference and Trade Fair, which included a world class line-up of speakers and attendees, as well as a visit from Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin.
The GLOBE conference is not only an international crossroads and marketplace for developing the business of the environment, but it is also Canada's most important showcase for demonstrating our innovative environmental technologies and our leading edge capabilities in environmental expertise and management. The Trade Fair at GLOBE 2006 promises to be the best yet, with over 70% of exhibit space already spoken for.
GLOBE 2004 will be held at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre from March 29 to 31, 2006. For further information, visit www.globe2006.com.
