WATERLOO, IOWA - May 30, 2008 "“ Nestlé Waters North America has donated more than 35,000 half-liters of Nestlé&regPure Life&reg bottled water to citizens affected by the level five tornado that struck the northeast part of the state earlier this week. The bottles of water, which arrived yesterday at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, are being distributed throughout the affected area by the food bank, a member of America's Second Harvest, as well as the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.

The tornado is estimated to have damaged or destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses, displacing thousands of citizens. The Nestlé Pure Life bottled water is part of a greater relief effort that includes deliveries of meals and hygiene products, coordinated by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and AmeriCares.

"This storm was unprecedented. Our hearts go out to the victims, and we are here to help them any way we can. We have a long way to go, and there's a lot of clean-up to be done," said Barb Prather, executive director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. "We are grateful for donations, and the partnerships that help us get the necessities, like water, to the victims."

"People are without homes and have lost everything. Water and food are essential. Currently, they are the most pressing needs, along with shelter for the victims. We're delighted to have a partnership with Nestlé Waters, a company that has the resources and the ability to help out immediately," said Randy Weiss, manager, corporate relations, for AmeriCares.

In the past, Nestlé Waters North America has provided millions of bottles of water to citizens and relief workers affected by natural disasters, including tornados and hurricanes, such as Hurricane Katrina, and during the 2007 Southern California wildfires.

In addition, the company has donated bottled water to communities when public water supplies were provisionally unpotable. When the municipal water supply of Alamosa, Colorado, was temporarily tainted by salmonella bacteria in March 2008, state officials contacted Nestlé Waters, and the company responded by providing more than 114,000 bottles of water to the town.
