(Alexandria, VA) - America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth has been designated by Capital One to be one of six national organizations serving children to receive funds as part of a new debit card program being promoted to banking customers in Louisiana and Texas starting today.

The new GiveHopeѕм Platinum Debit Card Program is designed to increase awareness of and support for charitable giving to leading national organizations dedicated to improving the well-being of this country's children, families and communities.

"Capital One is once again demonstrating through action and deed its dedication and determination to helping build strong and healthy communities throughout the nation," said America's Promise Alliance President and CEO Marguerite Kondracke. "Our goal of ensuring that 15 million underserved youth have access to the essential resources they need to succeed is made all the more possible, thanks to the support of partners like Capital One."

The GiveHope Platinum Debit Card Program, which is being offered free of charge to customers throughout Capital One's branch-banking network in Louisiana and Texas, allows customers to either select a debit card that supports only one of the chosen charities, or designate equal support to all six participating organizations. Whenever a customer uses the debit card for "credit" transactions, the designated organizations will receive funds from Capital One.

Customers who choose to support America's Promise will receive a Capital One debit card that prominently displays the America's Promise name and red wagon logo. The other children's organizations selected by Capital One as beneficiaries include CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation, JA Worldwide (Junior Achievement), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, March of Dimes and Reading Is Fundamental.

"We are proud to provide a simple, convenient and visible way to support America's Promise," said Mike Dobbins, senior vice president/Alternative Distribution for Capital One. "Like America's Promise, Capital One believes that building a brighter future for children and families in communities across the country benefits us all."
