Six Year Old Erie Boy Saves Father's Life

Six-year-old Jack Scully is being lauded as a hero after he used information in a Special Agent 911 coloring book to summon help after his father, Timothy, fell ill at the family home.
Jack was part of a recent Special Agent 911 presentation at Belle Valley Elementary school where the mascot, along with local Cellular One staffers, taught students what to do in an emergency, how and when to dial 911 and offered demonstrations on how to dial 911 on mock wireless telephones.
Since the program was introduced three years ago, Cellular One says more than 75,000 students in its nationwide service area have going through the training. Each student is given a Special Agent 911 coloring book that includes a page for emergency contact telephone numbers. It was this page Jack used to contact his mother on her Cellular One wireless telephone.
"It just goes to show the impact a program like this can have,"
said Gina Cunningham, regional marketing manager for Cellular One, who, along with Rena Travis, the area's administrative assistant, conducted the recent program at Belle Valley Elementary. "We are so pleased that Jack, with the help of his twin brother Connor, was able to remember what he had learned and help his dad in this situation."
And the story does have a happy ending. Though doctors still aren't sure what caused Timothy Scully's blackout, he is recovering from the cuts and bruises sustained in the event.
The Special Agent 911 program was scheduled through Belle Valley's Schoolwide Enrichment Program (SWEP). The school honored Jack and Connor Scully and Cellular One at a special ceremony on March 10th.
