In winning the Corporate Competitiveness Award for Product, Interface Canada was recognized by the judging panel for its world-class leadership in the areas of sustainable commerce and industrial ecology. Interface Canada, a subsidiary of Interface Inc., the world's leading producer of modular carpets and commercial fabrics, has been active in the corporation's worldwide efforts to promote sustainable manufacturing and development processes.
The judging panel cited Interface's dedication to reducing the company's environmental footprint of products and production through a host of intelligent design and manufacturing changes that have generated environmental benefits. Also, Interface CEO Ray Anderson was commended for his sustainability vision and corporate sector leadership in promoting the integration of sustainability into product design, manufacturing, business operations and human resources.
The 5th annual 2006 GLOBE Awards were announced in Vancouver, B.C. at GLOBE 2006, one of the most renowned and prestigious business and environment events in the world. Senior business executives, government officials and leaders in environmental innovation from over 80 nations meet every two years at GLOBE to discuss the most recent developments in corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, energy policy, climate change and the business of building sustainable cities.
