Oak Brook, IL.-- Interactive Business Systems, Inc. (IBS), a global technology services company, today announced its sponsorship of a three-year effort to provide essential services, build self-sufficiency and offer much-needed hope for AIDS orphans, other orphans, their families and caregivers in rural Rwanda.

IBS will lead fundraising efforts to support educational and vocational training, medical care, social services and a goal of self-sufficiency for a selected group of 500 orphans, their caregivers and child-headed households referred to as a "village".

"This is the beginning of a three-year journey that will be both challenging and rewarding," said Dan Williams, CEO of Interactive Business Systems. "IBS has a long tradition of helping others in need, and now we have the opportunity to make a difference for these children and their families suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS and poverty."

IBS is the first corporate sponsor, or Captain, of a Village in the "6 Villages, 1 Global Fight Against AIDS" program designed by FXB International, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fight AIDS and support the world's orphans. The 6 Villages community-building program is based on a proven model developed by FXB that results in self-sufficiency and improved lives for the participating children and caregivers.

The IBS Rwanda Village is located in Gatenzi, a rural village in central Rwanda, an African country of 8.5 million, and one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. The combined toll of the 1994 genocide, the HIV/AIDS epidemic and poverty have left up to 810,000 orphans in Rwanda. The HIV prevalence rate ranges from eight percent upwards to 25 percent in some regions. UNAIDS estimates that 150 new people are infected every day in Rwanda, and that by the end of 2003, more than 400,000 children had been orphaned by the disease. Due to poverty and poor living conditions, many AIDS orphans and other children are not fed properly, cannot afford medication and cannot attend schools.
