LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2006--Akeena Solar, Inc. (OTCBB:AKNS), a leading designer and installer of solar power systems, today announced it installed a 134 kilowatt (kW) solar power system for a prominent biotech company based in Burlingame, California.

Akeena Solar installed 645 high-efficiency solar panels on the biotech company's roof. The system will deliver substantial environmental and financial benefits; it will eliminate harmful emissions produced by fossil fuels and will lower its electricity bills by approximately $24,000 per year. Additionally, over half the installation costs will be covered by California's solar rebate program and a federal tax credit of approximately 30 percent.

"The biotech firm's installation - one of the largest in San Mateo County - exemplifies how businesses can benefit from clean, renewable power," said Barry Cinnamon, president and CEO of Akeena Solar. "The magnitude of savings provided by state and federal incentives is a surprise to most customers and we are encouraged we can educate them on the cost effectiveness of solar power. Solar power is becoming main stream, and visionary companies like this biotech firm will be saving money for many years to come."
