MONTPELIER, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 2006--Green Builder(R) Media today confirmed the growth of its VISION House Series, a sequence of showcase homes that demonstrate the benefits of sustainable design, construction techniques and products. Each VISION House will highlight best-practices of green building, including appropriate land use, alternative building systems, renewable energy, non-toxic products, and natural materials for multiple audiences including builders, contractors, consumers, code officials, real estate personnel, appraisers and education leaders.

"Designs and systems that are fitting for one climate may be inappropriate for another locale. The driving purpose behind the VISION House Series is to showcase a range of styles, technologies, and products as they pertain to a particular place, just as the local marketplace demands specific attributes and features rather than force a 'national' style into that local market."

The VISION House projects will demonstrate the content found in Green Builder Media's flagship publication, Green Builder Magazine, now the third largest publication in the residential building space and the only one to focus on sustainable development. Green Builder Magazine focuses on green products, environmentally appropriate projects, and the people and companies that are the leaders across the residential building marketplace.

Rhys Stucker, an experienced demonstration project manager and sales professional, and recognized expert in construction products and building systems, will lead the VISION House program. "Rhys' deep knowledge of the building process, understanding of the green market, and insight into the needs of product manufacturers will help make the VISION House Series a certain success," Gutterman says.

The VISION House Series debuted with the VISION House '06 Albuquerque. This inaugural demonstration project is an elegant, high-end custom home that demonstrates that green can a balanced blend of beautiful and high performance. The project had extensive international media coverage beyond Green Builder Magazine, including an Associated Press article that ran in the LA Times, Chicago Tribune and many other publications.

The second project in the Series, the VISION House '07 St. Louis, will consist of a small suburban compound of five homes on an infill site near what was formerly a traditional downtown area. Constructed by renowned builder Matt Belcher of Belcher Homes, these homes will demonstrate that green is affordable and within reach for the "mainstream" American family. Site development is nearing completion and construction for these houses will begin within weeks.

The third demonstration project in the Series, the VISION House '08 Orlando, will be constructed to coincide with the International Builders Show 2008. Featuring architectural design by Environmental Dynamics, Inc., this "glamorously green" lakefront custom home will elegantly demonstrate that green products and technologies can be not only visually stunning, but also offer added measures of durability and safety in an active hurricane zone.

All of the VISION House projects will be constructed in compliance with the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Model Green Home Building Guidelines and will also be evaluated by the criteria of other relevant local, regional or national green building programs such as the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED for Homes standard.
