"USA Cares was alerted in late August to the impending problems that would be facing the hundreds of 172nd families at Ft Wainwright and Ft Richardson due to the deployment extension," said Roger Stradley, Operations Director for USA Cares. "Over the last 3 months, USA Cares has donated more than $40,000 worth of quality of life needs for families experiencing difficulties.
"Sears Holdings Corporation has a long standing commitment to those in the military and we feel privileged to assist the troops and their families through this initiative," said Brenda Storch, a Sears Holdings Corporation spokesperson.
The Ready Set Holiday program will run through the 24th of December with the donated goods being received and donated throughout 2007. Stradley noted that as the Artic Warriors settle back into being home, the need will go on there and elsewhere and the unwavering support of generous Americans is an important as ever, "We are a nation at war, and we can't let them ever feel that we have forgotten these men and women who have done so much. We also know that while they are home, another infantry brigade has deployed to Iraq, so we can't rest either."
