MINEOLA, NY – December 4, 2007 – After months in development and extensive testing, the Web portal "Accountability Central (sm)" – www.accountability-central.com - is now officially launched. The Web publishing platform is designed to help inform and update leaders in the private, public and social sectors on critical "accountability" topics and issues through daily delivery of news, commentary and opinion, research and current developments.
Created and managed by the Governance & Accountability Institute, Inc., "Accountability Central" is built around the concept of "accountability" with specific issues and topic areas of interest presented in deep, individual content silos. These silos include corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, shareholder activism, socially responsible / sustainable investing, and others. There are currently 16 content silos and more are in development.
"As public expectations for greater accountability on the part of corporate, public and institutional leaders continue to rise in the United States and around the world," notes Henry (Hank) Boerner, the Institute's Chairman, "we've designed Accountability Central to be the 24/7 go-to resource for those interested in the specific activities and topics grouped under the widening umbrella of institutional and individual accountability. Today, corporate governance, shareholder activism, corporate social responsibility and socially responsible investing are hot topics -- for stockholders, stakeholders, and executives and boards of public companies. Each of these subject areas is covered in depth in Accountability Central. The editors track developments in all regions around the globe."
Accountability Central is edited and published by Governance & Accountability Institute, Inc., (G&A) a research, publishing and information services company serving client organizations in the corporate, public and social sectors. Says G&A Chairman Hank Boerner: "We believe that most individuals and their organizations / institutions want to do the right thing...for the right reasons…the Institute provides leaders, their advisors and policy implementers with information and independent advice to help accomplish that mission...and enhance individual and institutional efforts to be more accountable to stakeholders and stockholders."
Visitors have been coming to Accountability Central from all major business centers in the development stage. The growing user community includes corporate executives and managers, corporate and institutional board members, financial analysts and researchers, professional money managers, academics, journalists, elected officials, regulators, public officials, commercial bankers, ethics officers, social investment managers, and others with an interest in "accountability."
Users may register (at no obligation) to receive the Institute's "Alerts" and newsletters, emailed regularly and tied to Accountability Central content and features.
The Web portal will feature limited advertising and sponsorship opportunities for such marketers as social investment managers, corporations advancing their social responsibility programs, and for conference organizers promoting "accountability" events.
The deep content silos in Accountability Central contain news, commentary and research on these topics and issues: Accountability, Corporate Governance, Institutional Governance, Public Governance, Capital Markets Activities, Community Investment, Ethics, The Economy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shareholder Activism, Socially Responsible, Sustainable and Green Investing (SRI), Accounting & Financial Reporting, Transparency and Disclosure, Dynamics of Business & Society, Enterprise Risk Management, and, Globalization.
Special feature sections include: "Hot Topics" (such "SEC Proxy Proposals," "Toy Safety"), a comprehensive "News & Information Dashboard" with links to news sources; and "Companies in the Bull's Eye," with news and updates on companies under public scrutiny.
