January 22, 2007-- Hailed by THE WASHINGTON POST as "a songstress who has triumphed in everything from Broadway-flavored tunes to opera arias and the sultry innuendoes of the cabaret chanteuse," soprano ANNA BERGMAN will be the subject of a public television special featuring her SALON show~ a musical soiree in an intimate setting~ with celebrity guests. Anna is now seeking additional underwriting sponsorship to help fund this unique program which will be filmed for Maryland Public Television in early 2007. All of the proceeds will be used by MPT to create a high quality, creative television special designed for a national audience.

All donations will be acknowledged and are tax deductible to the extent of the law. Your name, company or foundation will be featured in the credits of the program and you will receive a copy of the DVD of the show. Growing up abroad as the daughter of an American diplomat, Anna was introduced to the salon in Paris and Vienna and is passionate about keeping alive this legendary tradition, singing in several languages and in a variety of styles. She is delighted to support public television which she believes does so much to bring great (and often live) performances into our homes and provides entertainment for those who cannot attend live performances.

"We are very excited to be able to work with Anna Bergman and feature the distinctive craft of performing in a salon environment," said Steven Schupak, Vice President, Television Programming, Maryland Public Television. "This art form is truly unique and one that will enrich public television audiences."

The inspiration to revive the salon came to Anna while performing in New York City just days after 9/11-- the power of music to touch people’s hearts, to uplift and to heal, as expressed in this letter from an audience member: "You gave us Music at its most healing~ I witnessed utter delight, amazement, exhilaration, where there had been a kind of resignation and hoping against hope." "In the intimate setting of the salon," Anna says, "you can touch people and make a difference."
