WALNUT CREEK, CA - June 26, 2007 - Green Building Pages recently honored Timbron International, a manufacturer of eco-friendly moulding, with the Social Sustainability 2007 Earth Day Award. This award recognizes contributions to social sustainability in the field of corporate, social, and environmental responsibility (CSR). Green Building Pages is a sustainable building materials database and design tool for the environmentally and socially responsible builder and designer.

"Over the past year we have worked diligently to reduce our environmental footprint and to become a more socially responsible business. This commitment included developing a CSR Platform which we are now implementing throughout the entire Timbron organization" said Heather Gadonniex, Timbron’s Sustainability and Marketing Manager.

Timbron's CSR Platform includes implementing policies and programs reflecting worker health and safety, environmental education for employees and the general public, living wage, gender equality and diversity, employee innovation incentives, and concern for net environmental impact.

In addition to being a socially responsible organization, Timbron produces a "green" product. Timbron Premium Interior Moulding is composed of 90% recycled polystyrene, commonly known as Styrofoam, of which 75% is post consumer and 15% is pre consumer. As a general rule, post consumer material has a greater environmental value than pre consumer material. Post Consumer material has been used by the public as a bottle, can, or packaging and then recycled into a new product.

To date, Timbron has recycled enough polystyrene to fill 14,242 Olympic-sized swimming pools and saves the harvesting of approximately 25 trees per day by offering an alternative material to wood. This is equivalent to sequestering 757, 375 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Timbron offers a closed-loop solution for hard to recycle plastics. The company will take back any unused material and manufacture it into new product. Furthermore, Timbron’s moulding emits zero volatile organic compounds, making them an ideal product for healthy indoor air quality.
