Sustainable Brands '09 Releases Full Program Schedule: REI, Clorox, Kaiser, Starbucks Contribute

BURLINGAME, Calif., May 12, 2009 - Sustainable Brands today announced its full conference schedule for 2009 conference taking place in Monterey, California May 31 - June 3 and unveiled confirmed plenary speakers for each morning. The event will feature three distinct themes: Meta Trends (economic, environmental and social context in which brands will be built going forward), New Markets & Brand Communications (consumer feedback, case studies, and breakthrough communications strategies) and Ingenuity at Work (business innovation with sustainability at the core).

As final arrangements are being completed for the conference, the plenary sessions, workshops, breakouts and special sessions are drawing strong attendance. Sustainable Brands '09 continues on track once again to draw over 500 attendees despite the challenging economic environment. A variety of conference pass packages are still available to meet the needs of varying budgets and travel schedules.

Plenary speakers on the morning of the first full day, Monday June 1, will address Meta Trends in Sustainability. Among them, Adam Werbach, CEO of Saatchi and Saatchi S, will speak from his soon to be released book on Sustainable Strategies for Turbulent Times; Tod Arbogast of Dell on Defining Carbon Leadership; Ben Packard of Starbucks on the Rise of Fair Trade; Dacher Keltner, PhD, on the Benefits of Altruism; Dev Patnaik on the Business Case for Empathy; Hazel Henderson on the new Green Economy. The event will also feature a variety of panel discussions on the future of the corporation, the true ecological cost of commerce beyond carbon, and other market trends and social movements that are impacting brands around the world.

Plenary speakers on Day 2 provide a look at New Markets & Brand Communications Best Practices with an emphasis on key learning from those building some of the leading sustainable brands. Featured presentations include brand leaders from Clorox, Frito Lay Sun Chips, Kaiser Permanente, hot digital start up 1BLOG (1 Block Off the Grid), California Academy of Sciences, eBay and more.

Ingenuity at Work provides the focus for Day 3 plenary talks, offering a look at some of the most progressive strategies for driving new business by providing sustainable solutions.
