Working in small groups on the Costa Rica campus. (Dec. 2007, CSR course)

- August 27, 2008 - The University for Peace's Centre for Executive and Professional Education has chosen London as the site to offer a 2-day intensive workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in partnership with UK CR specialists, Ideal Media. This is a third in a series of internationals workshops and will be followed by a 3-day seminar in San Jose, Costa Rica. Interested participants may register for either one of the workshops.

The workshops are designed to give those working or looking to work in the field practical knowledge on how to plan and implement a CSR strategy. The course's limited enrolment is designed to maximise participant interaction, but will also bring industry insights with expert speakers from the field. Some of the main topics that will be addressed include:

  • Incentives to engage in CSR: A strong rationale for proactively engaging in CSR
  • CSR branding and communications: Engaging and inspiring stakeholders and CSR branding.
  • CSR strategy: From CSR departments to integration into core strategy and beyond.
  • Human Resources: How to engage staff, and how CSR can help in professional development and to motivate, retain and recruit.
  • UN Global Compact: Understanding the framework and how to put it to practice
  • Engaging NGOs: Engaging NGOs and forming sustainable productive partnerships.
  • Leadership in CR: Bringing values to the workplace and developing leadership skills.
This year's workshop in London will be held at Surya, the world's first eco nightclub. Brainchild of multi-talented, multi-millionaire philanthropist, Andrew Charalambous, the club features a high-tech dancefloor that generates electricity when danced on. In Costa Rica, the workshop will take place on the most scenic campus of the University for Peace.

The University for Peace (UPEACE) was created by the General Assembly of the United Nations to provide an educational framework for the largest challenge faced by humanity: to ensure a secure and equitable world for ourselves and for future generations.
