NEW YORK, NY. - October 7, 2008 - The Resource Foundation, an expert at helping donors give to Latin America and the Caribbean, announced today that it has received the coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Four-stars is the highest possible rating given to a charity for organizational efficiency and sound fiscal management. It is awarded only to organizations that exceed industry standards and outperform most US charities.

"This 'exceptional' designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The Resource Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust," wrote Ken Berger, President and Executive Director of Charity Navigator in his letter to The Resource Foundation. He stated that this designation helps informed donors feel confident that their contributions are being utilized in the most effective and transparent manner.

"This award is a testament to our dedicated supporters, as well as to the talents of our Board and our professional staff," said Loren Finnell, President & CEO of The Resource Foundation. "For over 20 years, we have been dedicated to supporting innovative, sustainable programs in Latin America and the Caribbean by working with donors and local non-profit organizations. We are very proud of this recognition, and it further motivates us to continue our important efforts to improve the living standards for the region’s disadvantaged."

Charity Navigator, the nation's premier, independent charity evaluator, bases its ratings on a rigorous formula that examines an organization's efficient application of funds and its capacity to manage growth in programs and services. The report on The Resource Foundation indicated that 92.3% of organizational revenue was dedicated to programs.
