PISCATAWAY, NJ, December 4, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trane today announced its participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Climate Leaders program pledging to reduce company-wide greenhouse gas emissions.

"We are pleased to join the Climate Leaders program as part of our ongoing commitment to energy efficiency," said Fred Poses, chairman and CEO of Trane. "Reducing energy usage is the foundation for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At Trane, we build on that foundation every day with energy-efficient systems and services for our customers. With the Climate Leaders program, we will reinforce our continuing commitment to those principles for our own operations."

"EPA applauds Trane for joining the Climate Leaders program. We look forward to working with them to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our environment," said Robert J. Meyers, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator of EPA's Office of Air and Radiation.

In joining the Climate Leaders program, Trane is broadening its already strong commitment to facilitate lower energy consumption by its customers. The company was one of the first four energy services companies asked to participate in the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), a program launched by former President Bill Clinton to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 40 of the world's largest cities. The Trane CenTraVac(R) is the most energy-efficient chilled water system in the world for large buildings and has earned the company the "Best of the Best" Award from the EPA. In addition, many Trane residential products carry the EPA's "Energy Star" designation and the company markets the industry's most energy-efficient residential furnace.
