CHICAGO, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jones Lang LaSalle, the leading global real estate services and money management firm, today announced it has renewed its partnership commitment with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program. With this announcement, the firm strengthens its assertion that a continuous improvement in the energy efficiency and carbon performance of real estate assets under its management can support both improved asset value and environmentally sustainable business practices.

"Our firm has been a proponent of energy efficient commercial buildings for many years, and Energy Star has led the way in promoting efficient management strategies, tools, and products for operation of commercial buildings," said William Thummel, COO of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas. "Given the increasingly sophisticated approach to energy and sustainability that both our organizations have developed in recent years, the time is right for us to strengthen our commitment to Energy Star."

"Since our initial commitment to this great program in 1999, we have seen first-hand the value that an Energy Star rating brings to buildings, in terms of lower energy costs and the recognition that an energy-efficient building is a well-run building," said Dan Probst, chairman of the Global Sustainability Board at Jones Lang LaSalle. "As our Energy and Sustainability Services grows exponentially, Energy Star is more important than ever as a proven strategy for helping clients reduce their operational costs and greenhouse gas emissions."

As an Energy Star Partner, Jones Lang LaSalle pledges to identify practices and strategies resulting in continuous improvement in energy efficiency in the commercial buildings it manages for corporate and institutional clients, and promote the use of Energy Star rated products, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting. The firm also agrees to enhance energy efficiency in its own operations.

An Energy Star Partner since 1999, Jones Lang LaSalle was recognized as Partner of the Year in 2007. Many Jones Lang LaSalle clients are also Energy Star Partners that have been recognized by the US Department of Energy and the EPA for their efforts toward energy efficiency.

Jones Lang LaSalle is also a current participant in the Energy Star "Change a Light, Change the World" campaign, wherein companies and other organizations ask their employees to pledge to switch from incandescent bulbs to energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs in their homes. As of December 1, Jones Lang LaSalle ranked as the fourth most-active corporate participant in the program, with 905 employees pledging to change 7,413 bulbs. The energy savings from changing all those bulbs exceeds two-million kilowatt-hours, translating into the prevention of more than three-million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
