Jacksonville, OR. - February 24, 2009 - GLI Systems Inc. of Jacksonville, Oregon, manufacturer of RainTube, has been awarded an unprecedented six 2008 Green Building Pages Benchmark Sustainability Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Environmental and Social Sustainability. This is the third year in a row that RainTube has won the world's highest green product benchmark ranking. RainTube won in six of seven categories including:

• The top award – The Sustainable Product Award – for the highest overall product sustainability rating worldwide.


• Social Sustainability Award


• The Global Climate Change Award


• The End of Product Life Award. Also sharing in this award was Liberty Valley Rediscovered Wood Doors and Pacific Coast Lumber


• The Sustainable Installation, Use and Maintenance Award. Also sharing in this award was Vitrastone, Trim Tech, Allmet Signature Roofing, EcoTimber and Thermaflex.


• The Sustainable Production and Manufacturing Award.

The final award for Innovative Achievement was shared by Herman Miller and Interface Floors.

RainTube was recognized for exemplary performance according to the Green Building Pages rigorous Benchmarking Sustainability evaluation criteria. The Green Building Pages, founded and managed by architect Marilyn Farmer, is a leading building products certification organization that provides governments, consumers, architects and building contractors with internet-based guides and resources supporting sustainable building design and transparent information about green building products. Green building, an ecologically sound method of residential and commercial construction, has become a major area of interest and concern among consumers and the building industry worldwide. The Green Building Pages certification database, which is consistent with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) criteria, placed RainTube in the leading position among the sustainable building products of the world’s largest and most respected manufacturers.

RainTube is an effective, low-cost gutter protection and rainwater control system made in the USA from 100% post-consumer recycled materials. RainTube is third-party green certified by Cradle to Cradle, helps remove long-life plastics from the landfill, protects buildings from water damage caused by clogged gutters, reduces fire risk from gutter debris in compliance with new fire prevention building codes, reduces maintenance and promotes cleaner, more efficient rain water harvesting system's. RainTube also contributes LEEDS points for builders and owners seeking "green" certification for their projects.
