BEIJING, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- International SOS, the world's leading provider of assistance services, has activated its medical and logistics resources in its Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore alarm centers to assist the victims of the earthquake in Sichuan Province.

International SOS has mobilized a nine-member response team which included medical professionals to Chengdu on May 13. A temporary alarm center has also been set up in Chengdu manned by a senior operations director.

An International SOS doctor has also been deployed to support the Beijing Red Cross since May 13 in their rescue efforts. The team has since moved from Deyang to Mianzhu.

The International SOS rescue team in Chengdu are visiting all main hospitals to render assistance to members and clients. Working with the local treating doctors and hospitals, the team will assess the medical conditions of affected International SOS members and develop a plan of action for them to receive appropriate medical care.

Ongoing medical and safety advice and assistance, crisis decision support will continue to be provided 24 hours via the International SOS network of alarm centres around the world.
